Sharon Henry McWright

Sharon Henry McWright beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and schoolteacher by all who knew her, passed from this life on June 19^th 2026, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee at the age of 65. Sharon is preceded in death by Donald D. Henry and Carrie Ruth Blankenship Henry, of Nashville, Tennessee.

Sharon is survived by her husband, Dale McWright; son Matthew and Jennifer McWright, son Maxwell McWright, grandchildren Hope and Ben Simpson, Adelyn McWright, Samantha McWright, Theodore McWright and Cecilia McWright; and her brothers Donald Henry Jr.  of Nashville, Gary and Lesa Henry of Pegram, Larry and Karen Henry of Pegram and many cousins.

Sharon was born on October 26^th, 1960, in Nashville, Tennessee to Donald and Carrie Ruth Henry. After graduating from Hillwood High School in 1978 she entered the workforce and as a waitress for Shoney’s restaurant in Belle Meade where she touched many lives and never met a stranger. This is also where she met her soulmate Dale and started a family. Once she had her two sons, she decided to continue her education. That journey began at Tennessee State University where she graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelors in Science in 1998 and began teaching for Metro Nashville Schools. Post bachelor’s she attended Trevecca Nazarene University and in 2003 she graduated with a Master’s degree in education.

Sharon was passionate about touching the lives of her students she taught and was awarded Teacher of the Year in 2014.

Her children remember her as a constant patient guide and loving mother who was their biggest cheerleader in anything they pursed academically and extracurricular.

She was an avid reader and dedicated to three things outside of work and family:

First, as a child she always loved music and singing. She recorded a record in her early 20’s and sang with a local band in Nashville.

Second, shopping, which included bargain hunting at yard and estate sales, mostly for her children and grandchildren.

Third, she loved spending time in the sunshine at her pool she was very proud of, while teaching her grandchildren how to love the water and swim.

Sharon was dedicated to reading the Bible and loving Christ as her Lord and Savior.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are encouraged to Proverbs 12:10 animal rescue in Nashville, Cheatham Animal Control at 2797 Sams Creek Rd. Pegram, TN 37143.

The family would like to thank the medical staff of Vanderbilt University hospital for excellent care.

Visitation with the McWright family will be on Friday, July 10, 2026, from 2:00pm until 5:00pm, at Western Hills Church, located at 7565 Charlotte Pike. The celebration of life service will follow at 5:00pm, at the church. A private family interment will take place at Harpeth Hills Memory Gardens
