Steve Sharpe, age 73, passed away peacefully on May 9, 2026, in Nashville, Tennessee.

Born on January 6, 1953, in Nashville, Tennessee, Steve was the son of John “Doug” and Vernice Sharpe. Steve lived a life full of music, curiosity, faith, and meaningful conversation. A gifted guitar player who taught himself how to play by listening to Chet Atkins, he spent time traveling on the road with country music artist Tanya Tucker, sharing his love of music wherever life took him. He also had a deep passion for computers and dedicated many years of his life to computer programming.

Steve was known for his deep relationship with Christ and his love of discussing spirituality and life’s deeper meanings. He had a thoughtful spirit, a sharp mind, and a way of connecting with others through honest conversation and compassion.

He is survived by his loving mother, Vernice Sharpe; his sister, Wanda (Steve) Sullivan of Bon Aqua, Tennessee; his sons, Steve (Michelle) Sharp of Lafayette, Indiana, and Doug (Crystal) Sharp of Russiaville, Indiana; and his cherished grandchildren, Ireland, Envie, Noah, Nica, and Colin Sharp.

He is also survived by his nieces, Tammy (Melissa) Cullen and Clarisa (Kevin) Davis; his nephew, Cody (Christina) Sullivan; daughter in love, Dianna Vogas and many beloved great-nieces and great-nephews.

Steve was preceded in death by his father, John Douglas Sharpe; his sister, Darleen Sharpe; and his brother, Johnny Sharpe.

A small private family service will be held, and a celebration of Steve’s life will be arranged at a later date.

Steve will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

In Perfect Harmony

(Steve Sharpe- 2024)

I Desire to de His Perfect Death,

If it be His Will;

However, with Desire I desire to live to do His Perfect Will,

If it be His Will;

And the Comforter has come,

That I may Embrace,

In Perfect Harmony,

Till I see His Perfect Face.

(Capitalization is key to understanding this writing. The capitalized words within the sentence refer directly to the Spirit of God Himself, while the same words, uncapitalized, refer to the natural human being. Also, this dichotomy is revealed in the context of this writing as it relates to what Jesus Christ said to His disciples at The Last Supper, “With Desire I’ve desired to eat this supper with you.”)

  1. My beloved brother. I will hold you in my heart always and meet you on the other side one day. I love you and thank you for always teaching me about God and his words. You always had a gift of giving so much understanding in his word. I loved and appreciated all your wisdom.

  2. I have so many fond memories with Steve as a kid at Aunt Vernice and Uncle Doug’s he was always playing an instrument and singing. I am deeply saddened in his passing but it’s comforting to know he is no longer in pain. I’m sorry so much time had passed since I last spoke to him.

  3. Steve was always so kind and soft spoken around me. You could feel his love for God and his family. He will be missed by many. Sending prayers to his family and friends ❤️
