BRADY – Joshua James “Jack”, 80, of Huntingdon, TN went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, February 17th, 2024, surrounded by his family.
Joshua was born in Uniontown, PA on July 20th, 1943, to Joshua James Brady, Sr. and Lulu Belle (Gordon) Brady who lovingly nicknamed him “Bud”. He was the oldest of 6 children. He was an outstanding wrestler at Uniontown High School where he graduated in 1961. He attended Indiana University on a wrestling scholarship and was an AAU Champion.
He married the love of his life, Bonita Bloom, in 1963 and he spent the next 60 years sharing a life full of adventures, travels, and love with her by his side. They shared a strong commitment to community with volunteer work and youth sports.
Joshua was a faith-filled man who attended and served for a number of years as a Deacon at Hopewell Baptist Church in Flint, MI. He trusted God to lead Bonnie and him through all of life’s joys and struggles.
He worked for General Motors in Flint, MI for 47 years at the Buick plant in the maintenance department.
He was known as “Coach” to hundreds of young men as he shaped minds and bodies with his creative methods and unique style. Most of his 30-year plus career was spent at Kearsly High School in Flint where he never had a losing season. He also spearheaded the effort to help Goodrich High School start a program, and he finished his career coaching at Powers High School in Flint, MI. He loved coaching side by side with his brother John for many of those years and sharing the experience together.
He loved to travel and took countless family members and wrestlers on road trips all over the country.
He is survived by his wife, Bonita Brady, children Michael (Barbara) Brady, Lesa (Jim) Krause, Antonio Brady, and Corey Brady, twelve grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, siblings Patty Noga and Jackie (Harry) Campbell, and many nieces and nephews who affectionately referred to him as “Uncle Bud”.
He is predeceased by his parents, and siblings John Brady, Ronald Brady, and Donna Brady.
A Celebration of Life will take place on Saturday, March 9th at North End Baptist Church in Mt. Morris, MI. Visitation with the family will be from 9am-11am with a service officiated by Pastor Scott Sutherland beginning at 11 am and a luncheon will be served at the church following.
The family would like to thank the Doctors and staff at Vanderbilt University Medical Center for their most amazing and compassionate care.
