Eddie Amos Hill III. – Age 82, passed peacefully in his sleep and went to be with the Lord on May 28, 2025. Born in Nashville on Nov. 9, 1942, to the late Eudean Ruth Pitts Hill and Edwin Amos Hill II, he was also preceded in death by his sister, Beverly Ann Hill Odum. Eddie was a beloved father, a beloved grandfather, fantastic friend, loved by many, loved many, and will be deeply missed. He is survived by brother, Joe (Charmayne) Rozell; his children: Missy Hill Pfeiffer (Ernie), Teresa Hill DeMoss (Jerry), Pamela Hill Mottola, Vicki Kuhns Malfitano (John), Andy Kuhns, and Leanne Kuhns Nash (Jimmy); nieces Olivia Hill and her children, Josh and Krystyn, and Tonya Rozell; and granddaughters, Dr. Anna Dean Pfeiffer and Allissa Ryan Pfeiffer. Eddie also leaves behind an enormous number of lifelong friends, including Jim Tenney, whom he loved like a son, and his childhood friend, Bobby Woodall.
Eddie was a standout athlete in his years at Donelson High School (Class of 1960), excelling in basketball and track where he set multiple records. He was an avid fisherman and golfer and was a member of the Brentwood Shriners Golf Club. Eddie was a 43-year Master Mason and member of Doric Lodge #732 F.&A.M., and a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason. He was a member of the Al Menah Shrine Temple for 33 years, and past captain of the director’s staff. Eddie was a tireless fundraiser for children’s causes through the Shrine.
Visitation with the Hill family will be held on Thursday, June 5th from 4PM until 6PM. A masonic service led by Ron Hall will follow at 6PM. At the conclusion of the masonic service, a memorial will be delivered by Steve Bass and his granddaughter. All events will be held at Western Hills Church, located at 7565 Charlotte Pike, Nashville, TN 37209.
Honorary pallbearers are his band of brothers known as the “Over the Hill Gang” – Denny Brooks, Jack Brooks, Billy Gleason, Wayne Holloway, Sr., John Lamons, and Tommy Lohman.
In lieu of flowers, donations in honor of Eddie A. Hill III may be sent to the Shriners Children’s Hospital in Galveston, Texas.
