Verne Kingman
2/17/1938-10/24/2025
Verne “Pop” Kingman passed away peacefully in his home in Ashland City, TN, surrounded by his loving family, at the age of 87. He had been under the care of Caris Hospice. Verne was born to parents Verne and Theresa in Philadelphia, PA. He had one sister, named Shirley whom he loved dearly.
Life was complicated and not always easy, but Verne grew up, entered the Navy and served for 4 years. He was married and had what would be his first of 3 families. He enjoyed a variety of careers and in 1975, he moved to TN. He was a family man and worked hard to provide. He found his way to the Cumberland Science Museum and found great joy in building exhibits that all the children would learn from and enjoy for 20years. He found great pride and pleasure seeing the kids climbing on and exploring all the exhibits he built. Once retired, Verne enjoyed fishing, reading, building and nature. As his physical condition deteriorated, he enjoyed bird watching and nature TV.
Verne is preceded in death by his parents and sister. He is survived by his wife, Shari Kingman; his grown children Verne Jr, Karen, Nikki, Larry and Gail, Shannon, along with Mariah, Jacob (Sara), and Sarah (Michael). Grandchildren Kylie, Ava, Wyatt and Nolan. Many close friends and his nieces and nephew.
A private family celebration will be held.

I am so sorry I didn’t get to see my brother before his passing. My heart goes out to you Shari and you family for your loss. I wasn’t real close to my brother mostly because of the age difference but I still loved him. He will be sadly missed
