Dallas Therese Gale, 81 of Nashville, TN passed away December 24,2025 after having valiantly beaten breast cancer 8 years ago she succumbed to dementia and Parkinson’s disease.
Dallas was born on October 3rd, 1944 to Paul and Beatrice Nelson in Minneapolis, MN. After graduating Wayzata HS she attended the University of Minnesota and received a two year degree in Dental Assisting. She worked in her field for a while and then returned to the University to teach dental assisting to students.
She was introduced to Ed Gale, her husband of 56 years, by Ed’s sister. They were married in 1969. They moved a lot during their early years of marriage living in Minneapolis, MN; Bismarck, ND; Fargo, ND; Sioux Falls, SD; Clear Lake, IA; and finally Nashville, TN.
From an early age Dallas had a love of animals. It was love that was returned. She had a horse as a teen and puppies, dogs, kittens and cats throughout her marriage.
While her family was young Dallas dedicated her time to her two sons Anthony and Matthew. She was involved in the boy’s schools in PTA, as Clinic mom, and volunteering wherever possible to help in whatever capacity was needed (including organizing a spaghetti supper for 300.
Dallas seldom met people that she didn’t like and as a result she made many fast lifetime friends. She threw herself into projects and knew it was as important to follow as well as lead. It is said, “you may be the only Bible some people will ever read” and at that she excelled. She became involved with many church ministries: Meals on Wheels, Haiti Mission, Eucharistic Minister to sick and homebound, leader of Young at Heart taking older parishioners on “field trips” and Ladies of Charity. In the community she joined New Neighbors. various bridge groups, NALTA Tennis and even coached a NYSA youth soccer team.
When her boys were in high school she held several different jobs ending up as office manage in a small company that Ed co-owned. Her goal was to help support her boys to go to college without debt. Both boys graduated without debt.
Dallas became a grandmother late in life but at a time when she and Ed could help the new hard working parents by being with the infants. The joy and unconditional love for family was truly reinforced.
Dallas enjoyed camping and visiting people and places; England, Germany, Switzerland, New York, Maine, Texas and many trips to Minnesota to be with family.
Dallas was preceded in death by her parents and three of her six sisters and one brother. She is survived by her husband Ed, her two sons Anthony (Jennifer) Matthew (Rachel) and two granddaughters Finley and Lola.
Plans for a celebration of life will be forthcoming.
