William R. Hamm

William R. Hamm – Age 62, of Dickson, passed from this life on Friday, May 8, 2026, at Alive Hospice in Nashville.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Edith L. Gulley Hamm; father, Burgess R. Hamm; and his brother, Charles B. Hamm.

William is survived by his siblings, Judy Hamm Summers (Royce), Jerry R. Hamm (Joy), Larry D. Hamm (Ruslyn), Sharon L. Nadimi (Jay); and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family members.

He worked for 17 years for Wolfe Industrial as a welder and installer for mainly Purina Chow Plants in several states. He loved the University of Tennessee football, and he loved to assemble and paint model cars and airplanes.

William missed his little “Emmylou” He rescued Emmylou back in the day. The story goes, William went to the shelter to rescue a pet and saw this little “rag-a-muffin”, rescued her and named her Emmylou because, her namesake, Emmylou Harris wanted to adopt her as well, but William beat her to the punch. Emmylou was honored that he named this little rescue after her. But he did get an autographed hat by Emmylou Harris out of the deal.

William was loved by all who knew him. He will be greatly missed but never forgotten.

Visitation with the Hamm family will be on Sunday, June 14, 2026, from 12:00pm until 1:30pm, at Western Hills Church, located at 7565 Charlotte Pike. The memorial service will follow at 1:30pm, at the church.
