Charles Douglas Deal, age 87, passed away on Saturday, May 30, 2026, in Nashville, TN. He is survived by his children, Cory Deal and Tracy Deal Matthews (Rob); grandchildren, Rachel Deal Hoak (Andrew), Amy Deal Sterna, and Henry Matthews; and many beloved great‑grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, L.B. and Anna Marie Sheldon Deal; his devoted wife, Gale Simpson Deal; and his son, Eric Deal.

Born and raised in Nashville, Charles attended David Lipscomb High School and the University of Tennessee. He enjoyed a long career with the Ford Motor Company at the Ford Glass Plant. Charles and Gale made their home in Hendersonville for many years before retiring to their dream home on Center Hill Lake.

Charles loved the outdoors, especially fishing. He and Gale were known for hosting an annual fish fry for friends—a gathering filled with good food, laughter, and cherished memories.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in his memory to an animal shelter of your choice or to the Nature Conservancy of Tennessee.

A memorial service celebrating his life will be held Sunday, June 28, at City Church of East Nashville, 805 Woodland Street, Nashville, TN 37206. Family will receive visitors at 2:00 p.m., with the service beginning at 2:30 p.m.

  1. Charles was our neighbor for the last 10 years. Charles was not only a great neighbor but he became a dear friend. He was very caring and I will miss him. Prayers to all the family.
