Pablo "Paul" Barrios Aponte

Pablo “Paul” Barrios Aponte passed away peacefully on September 19, 2026 in Nashville, Tennessee, surrounded by the family he loved so deeply.

Paul was born on December 2, 1940, in Upata, Venezuela, to Lucila Aponte de Barrios and Pablo Barrios Veliz. He later moved to the United States and attended St. Edward’s University and the University of Texas at Austin. Paul built a successful career first in insurance and later in real estate, where he founded his own property management business, Aponte and Associates. He was known for his integrity, strong work ethic, and commitment to doing things well.

On October 31, 1963, Paul married the love of his life, Rose Marie. For 62 years, they shared a life filled with love, laughter, loyalty, partnership, and adventure. Together, they raised their two children, and were blessed with three grandchildren. Paul considered his family his greatest accomplishment.

Paul also had a special gift for friendship. He made people feel welcome, valued, and loved, and his warmth and sense of humor drew people to him. His familiar greeting, “Hey, Padnah!” became a signature expression of his affection. Many of his friendships lasted decades, and those who knew him often considered him family.

Paul loved golf, Titans football, University of Tennessee football, family beach trips, and giving back to his community, particularly through delivering Thanksgiving meals to those in need.

Paul is survived by his beloved wife, Rose Marie; his children, Paul Aponte, Jr. and Rachel Bishop (Louie); and his grandchildren, Nicolas Aponte, Miller Bishop, and Turner Bishop.

The family is deeply grateful to Paul’s hospice caregivers and friends for the extraordinary care, kindness, and support they provided during his final days.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
