Dodge City, Kansas
Resided in:
Nashville, Tennessee
It is with profound sorrow that we mourn the passing of our brave and tenderhearted Adrienne Leigh Babcock, having surrendered to a years long battle with cancer, on Friday, June 20, 2025.
Adrienne (Abey) was born in rural America, her earliest years spent in Dodge City, Wichita and Liberal KS, where her small town roots were first established and would stay with her, influence her, throughout her lifetime. Family moves necessitated a brief stay in Flagstaff AZ, during her preteen years and eventually landed her in Los Angeles, where she completed high school and then Cosmetology school. While working as a hairdresser, Adrienne also pursued her passion for music, learning to play
guitar and developing her voice~ singing, solo gigs and with a local rock band, whose name escapes our Gen-X brains at the moment, all these years later.
Nashville became home to Adrienne in 1997, having become smitten with it’s rich and diverse artistic community, it’s verdant landscapes and the welcoming atmosphere emanating from it’s residents. By then, Adrienne had transitioned to database and administrative work, she honed these skill sets working with Cheekwood, Second Harvest Food Bank and Vanderbilt. Much of
her career was characterized by her valued “behind-the-scenes” roles in fundraising, managing resources, bookkeeping and organizing materials, meetings and calendars.
Adrienne is survived by her beloved husband, Michael (Rivera), her partner of over 30 years, her confidant, a kindred spirit with a delightful sense of mischief; her additional significant other, her fur baby, Taco- the only sunshine she tolerated well and basked in daily; her big eclectic band of siblings- Sherril, Brigitte, David, Debbie, Larry and Orson; her cherished
nephews Derrick and John; her adored grand-niece and nephew, Imogene and Forrest; as well as innumerable loving friends, extended family and respected colleagues.
In accordance with Adrienne’s wishes, there will be no funeral or memorial service.
Honoring her memory through other means is warmly encouraged: Donate to your local ASPCA or to the Elephant Sanctuary Hohenwald or plan a quintessentially Nashvillian get together, to watch your favorite Disney or Pixar film/s, viewed anew with Adrienne’s endearing child like joy.
Celebrate this unique, beautiful soul in a manner that best captures your memories of her and
take solace in imagining the all encompassing state of serenity she now inhabits.
Dearest Abey ~ til we meet again, love you bye!!
