Esther Peggy Rummel – Age 88, of Columbia, Mississippi, passed from this life and entered Heaven’s gates on Friday, September 19, 2025, in Nashville, after an extended illness.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her son, Todd Clark, who passed in 1970; and her sisters, Marybelle DiMaggio and Naomi Dixon.

Esther is survived by her husband, Bill Rummel; daughters, Tena (Len) Valenti; Jennifer (Joel) Soto; Shauna (Andrew) Buxton; her beloved grandchildren, Kyle Valenti, Todd Valenti, Noah English, Jack English, Grayson English, Ian English, and Analese English, Chloe Buxton, Gentry Buxton, Cole Buxton, Brady Buxton, and Ella Buxton; her brother, Hoyt Huggins; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members, and church family.

She was a longtime member of Woodlawn Church in Columbia, Mississippi. She was an avid puzzle worker, a world traveler, and a great seamstress for her children in their younger years. She was an entrepreneur who owned numerous businesses throughout the years. She will be missed here on earth, but there is comfort knowing she is with her Lord.

A graveside service to celebrate Esther’s life will be held on Wednesday, September 24, 2025, at 11:00 AM, at the Middle TN Veterans Cemetery, located at 7931 McCrory Lane in Nashville, with Pastor Roy Duke officiating.

Flowers will be accepted at Compassion Funeral Home’s offices anytime on Tuesday and Wednesday morning before 10:00 AM.
