Irene Carter Hunter- Age 84.

Celebrating the Life and Legacy of a Remarkable Woman.

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Irene Carter Hunter, a beloved mother, grandmother, friend, and pillar of her community. Irene departed this world on March 26, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and unwavering strength and love of God and her church.

Born and raised In Humphreys County April 17, 1941, as the youngest child in a close-knit family. She was the cherished daughter of her parents, Paul Lawrence Carter and Susie Mabel Hampton Carter and spent her childhood surrounded by the warmth of siblings and extended family. Preceding her death were her parents; brothers, G.W. Carter, James Carter, Bryan Carter, and Rupert Carter; sisters, Edna Carter Baggett and Mary Katherine Carter Allison.

Family was at the heart of Irene’s world. She was a loving mother to her children, Kimberly Hunter, Susan Hunter and Elizabeth Hunter offering guidance and support with patience and understanding. Her grandchildren Jake and Brendan Suleski adored her, cherishing the stories, wisdom, and affection she so freely gave. Her kindness extended beyond her immediate circle, touching the lives of neighbors and strangers alike in her community at Mary Queen of Angels. Irene’s generosity and spirit will be remembered by all who were fortunate enough to know her. Survivors include her three daughter and 2 grandsons. As well as her sons in law, Sean Bacon and Sam Esper.

Irene Carter Hunter leaves behind a legacy defined by love, integrity, and service. As we mourn her loss, we also celebrate the extraordinary life she led and the memories she created.

A funeral service will be held 1:00 p.m. to honor Irene’s life on Tuesday March 31, 2026, at St. John Chrysostom Greek Orthodox Church, 6705 Charlotte Pike Nashville, TN 37209 with Fr. Michael Marcantoni, Celebrant. Burial will follow at Harpeth Hills Memory Gardens.

Visitation with the family will be held on Tuesday prior to the service from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at St. John Chrysostom Greek Orthodox Church.

Irene will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who knew her. May her soul rest in peace, and may her memory forever be a blessing.
