Jack Thomas Jones was born on February 28, 1931, and passed from this life on June 17, 2025, at the Alive Hospice residence.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Johnnie Claude Jones and Nora Mai Byrum Jones; his brothers, Johnnie C. Jones, Jr. (J.C.), and Paul Jones; sister, Edith Alleyne Jones; his sons, Phillip Jones and Christopher “Chrissy” Jones.
Jack is survived by his loving wife, JoAnn Headrick Jones, of whom he married in 1950; children, Kevin (Carla) Jones and Jackie (Reggie) Claud; grandchildren, Michael and Timmy Jones; Regina (Michael) Hampton, Holly (Sam) Shrewsbury, Moriah (Mary) McDermott, and Liberty (Cody) Harris; great grandchildren, Boone Hampton, Oliver Hampton, Marley Hampton and Porter Hampton, Townes Harris, Highland Harris, Emma Shrewsbury, Owen Shrewsbury, and Nora Jane Shrewsbury.
Jack graduated from East High School in 1950. He was a plumber by trade for many years and proudly received his 70-year pin in 2022. Jack loved sports and particularly had a passion for softball which he continued to play into his 70’s. He also loved fishing and working outside. He had a heart for helping everyone, whether friend or stranger; and endeared himself to many with his quick wit and kindness.
Due to Mrs. JoAnn’s current health challenges, they have made the tough decision to not hold a public service at this present time.
Arrangements in the care of Compassion Funeral & Cremation Services, 6949 Charlotte Pike, Suite 104 (615) 857-9955. We are proud to be West Nashville & Bellevue’s only locally owned and operated burial & cremation provider.
I knew Jack and his wife and their son, Kevin all my life as a result of growing up in Sylvan Park. Jack and Jo Ann were two of the most wonderful people I have ever known who exhibited kindness and endured hardship for their family that can rarely be found these days. Their lives are a model that we all should strive to emulate.
