Joel L. Wright

Joel Lankford Wright- Age 82, of West Nashville, passed from this life on Friday, January 23, 2026, at the Alive Hospice residence. He is preceded in death by his father, RB Wright, and his mother, Lila Walker Wright; his first wife, Suzanne Wright; his baby daughter, Janet Lila Wright; and his sister, Priscilla Wright.

Joel is survived by his loving wife, Virgie Tomes Wright; sisters, Alene (Dave) Miller, of Smyrna, TN; and Penny Irwin, of Columbia, TN; his children, Carl Wright, of White House, TN; Traci (Steven) Allision, of Illinois, Jeremy (Angie) Wright, of Brentwood, TN; grandchildren, Sydney Wright, of Greenbrier, TN., Kasey Allison, of Illinois; Tanner, Taylor, and Juliana Wright, of Brentwood, TN; and numerous wonderful friends and extended family members.

Joel worked for Bill Trickett for many years and retired from Roadway Freight Lines on January 31, 2009, as a mechanic. He was a faithful member and deacon at Charlotte Heights Church of Christ, where he was known for giving candy to both the children and the adults. He loved church work and helping others.

The funeral service to celebrate Joel’s life will be on Monday, February 2, 2026, at 11:00 am at Charlotte Heights Church of Christ, 6833 Old Charlotte Pike, with Josh Barnett officiating. Interment will be on Monday at 2:30 pm at Springfield Memorial Gardens. The active pallbearers will be Floyd Cross, Tom Compton, Joey Corlew, Mike Miller, Mark Collins, Daryle Downey, Sam Potts, Wayne Shearon, and Chandler Corlew. Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Edmunds and John LeMay.

Visitation with the Wright family will be on Sunday, February 1, 2026, from 1:00 pm until 3:00 pm, then again on Monday from 10:00 am until the service time at 11:00 am, all at Charlotte Heights.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are encouraged to the Churches of Christ Disaster Relief Efforts, Inc., at 410 Allied Drive, Nashville, TN 37211, the Alzheimer’s Association, or the American Cancer Society.
