Karen D. Freeman 60, passed away peacefully in her home after a short but hard fought battle against cancer on the morning of December 29th, 2025 surrounded by her husband, Ashley and son, Ronin.
Karen was born in Detroit Michigan on May 25th 1965 and adopted by Mary-Alice and Phil Thomas. She moved to Tennessee when she was 12 and graduated from Cookeville High School in 1983.
In 1986 Karen met the love of her life, Ashley Freeman. They began dating in 1987 and they married on September 13th 1996 sharing 38 fun filled, laugh filled, ups, downs, and adventures. Their biggest adventure came on September 8th, 2006 when Karen and Ashley welcomed their amazing son Ronin to the world.
Karen loved animals and all her furry babies loved her. She was a hard worker and never one to shy away from a challenge. She loved spending time by the pool with her friends or home floating, relaxing, saving bees, and just enjoying a warm sunny day and looking at the “cloudy clouds.” She loved the beach and Disney World and snorkeling for shells.
Karen loved music and played piano and ukulele’. She was also athletic. In school she was a championship softball pitcher. She earned her black belt in Wado Ryu Karate in 2005.
Karen was a fighter. She fought hard against the cancer and never gave up. She will be remembered for her kindness, compassion, love, bravery, toughness, and tenacity. She will be missed everyday and she lives on through her son Ronin and his music and in the heart of her husband, parents, mother in law, sibling, in-laws, nieces, nephews, friends, co-workers, and of all those that had the pleasure of knowing her.

I am so sorry for your loss! I know it was not a lot but I always enjoyed being around you and Karen whenever we had the chance. Know you and Ronin are in my thoughts and prayers as you journey thru all this.
