Kelton Demario King, 43, of Nashville died unexpectedly in May 2025.
He was born in Memphis to Lynn Ramona King on February 6, 1982. In his youth, he was a member of LeMoyne Truevine Baptist Church in Memphis, TN, which was founded by his grandfather. He attended Cory Junior High School where he was member of the track team. He later attended Hamilton High school. Kelton was a man who lived with hardship, yet held himself with dignity. There was a gentleness about him which makes his loss much harder to bear. He was straightforward yet sensitive, offering sympathy and love to those around him.
His steadfast presence at The Downtown Presbyterian Church is missed. His church family particularly appreciated Kelton’s unique sense of humor. Tenika Ford described Kelton as “everyones favorite cousin and friend. He had a heart of gold and an infectious smile and personality. He loved to sing, dance and play cards. He also loved to do hair.”
Kelton was pre-deceased by his mother, Lynn Ramona King, twin brother, Kenton King, and aunt, Janice Gilmore.
He is survived by brother Kearon King of Nashville and sister Tiketa Cowan of Memphis; nieces Takira King, Asia Wade, Anya Wade, Kelsey Wade and Ti’Kaylyn King; nephews Chrishawn Smith and Lashawn Earl, Jr.; cousins Christopher, Corey, Chendra, Tenika, Kyerra, Carlisa, Searcy, Sertoya Sergeo, and Savion; aunts Archbishop Carolyn King Cunningham of Memphis TN and Lisa Nicklos of Tampa FL; and uncle Ronald King of Memphis. The family also wishes to acknowledge special friends Briah and Narkita Sawyers of Nashville, TN.
Our community was more wonderful with Kelton in it, and we are better for having known him.
A memorial service for Kelton was held in the chapel of The Downtown Presbyterian Church on Saturday, August 9th, followed by a service of inurnment.
To honor Kelton’s memory, donations may be made to The Downtown Presbyterian Church’s meal ministry program. https://onrealm.org/DowntownPresbyt/-/form/give/now.
