Margaret Etta “Maggie” Richardson Biggs
Margaret Etta (Maggie) Richardson Biggs, age 87, of Nashville, Tennessee, passed away peacefully in her home on October 29, 2025, surrounded by her children.
Maggie was born on May 8, 1938, in Nashville, Tennessee, to Carl and Frances Richardson. Maggie was the youngest of seven children. She attended North High School, where she graduated as valedictorian of her class.
In 1957, Maggie married Kenneth Biggs. Though their paths eventually diverged, they shared four wonderful children who remained the joy of her life. Family was always Maggie’s greatest blessing. She devoted her years to raising her children and later delighted in her role as “Granny”to her grandchildren.
For over 25 years, Maggie worked for Hospital Corporation of America, serving as Chief Financial Officer at South Pittsburg Hospital from 1986-1990.
A lifelong member of the Church of Christ, Maggie spent most of her years worshiping at James Avenue Church of Christ. She taught Bible classes, wrote Vacation Bible School materials and cared deeply for older members of the congregation. She loved lively discussions about God’s Word and lived out her faith through quiet acts of service.
Maggie enjoyed playing games, reading books, shopping, playing the piano, and singing. Many Saturday nights were spent in her living room, surrounded by friends and family, singing from the church songbook for hours on end.
She is survived by her brother, Bobby Richardson of White Bluff, TN; four children: Woody (Amy) Biggs of Byesville, OH; Scott (Vickie) Biggs of Ashland City, TN; Carlisa (Jim) Elmi of Ashland City, TN; and Suzie (David) Estes of Fairview, TN; grandchildren, Brittany (Joe) Griffith, Tiffany (Michael) Wade, Philip (Loren) Biggs, Whitney Biggs, DJ (Abby) Estes, Abby Elmi, Jack Estes, and Johnny Estes and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Frances Richardson; brothers Glean, Virgil, Billy, and Ray; and her beloved sister, Carline Richardson.
A celebration of Maggie’s life will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 1, 2025, at Western Hills Church of Christ. Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m., prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to James Avenue Church of Christ (613 James Avenue, Nashville, TN 37209)
Flowers can be sent to Compassion’s office or Western Hills Church.
Maggie’s life was a testament to faith, family, and love. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
