Margaret Ruth Hamm Carter

Margaret R. Carter- Age 86, of West Nashville, passed from this life on Tuesday, June 10, 2025, after an extended illness.

She is preceded in death by parents, Elijah & Lelia Patterson Hamm; her son, William D. “Sam” Carter, Jr., her husband, William Douglas Carter, Sr.

Margaret is survived by her grandchildren, Ginger Carter (John) Thorburn; Shawn (Jennifer) Carter and Chelsea Carter; her great grandchildren, Kaitlyn McIntosh, Cameron Thorburn, Dayo Mustapha, Kian Mustapha, Naomi Mustapha, and Douglas “Dougie” Carter; niece, Sandra Birge; nephew, Jimmy Jackson and great niece, Kayla (Nick) Birge Hawkins; her great great nephew, Chase Hawkins; and her beloved fur baby, Bella.

A celebration of life for Margaret will be on Monday, June 16, 2025, at 11AM, at Western Hills Church, located at 7565 Charlotte Pike with David Estes officiating. Interment will follow at Harpeth Hills Memory Gardens. The pallbearers will be Shawn Carter, Cameron Thorburn, John Thorburn, Cory Jackson, Nick Hawkins, and Luke Cripps. The honorary pallbearers will be Jimmy Jackson, Mike Hamm, and Eddie Veach,

Visitation with the Carter family will be on Monday June 16th from 9AM until the service time at 11AM, all at the church.
