Michelle Renee Nannie

Michelle Reneé Nannie, 48, of Nashville, Tennessee, passed away on May 14, 2025.

Born on April 10, 1977, in Nashville, Michelle was the daughter of Carolyn Lee Johnson and the late William Edward Johnson. She earned her GED and spent her life close to the people and places she knew best.

Michelle was a woman of strong will and deep feeling. Life brought her many challenges, and she didn’t always get everything right — but she cared deeply in her own way. She loved her family fiercely and held tight to her faith in God. Writing was her way of expressing what she couldn’t always say out loud — a quiet outlet for her emotions and reflections. She found comfort in music, in the color purple, and in moments of laughter when her silly side came through.

She is survived by her mother, Carolyn Lee Johnson; her children: Alisa Marie Williams (28), Roger Dale Nannie Jr. (26), Shanna Lee Nannie (19), and Gracie Rose Nannie (13); and her longtime partner, James Luffman. She was preceded in death by her father, William Edward Johnson; her brother, Gary Wayne Johnson; and her husband, Roger Dale Nannie.

Michelle’s life was not without struggle, but it was also marked by love, faith, and a desire to connect. She will be remembered honestly, with love and reflection, and with hope that she has found peace.

A Celebration of Life Service for Michelle will be held 1:00 p.m. Friday, May 23, 2025, at Madison Funeral Home Chapel, 219 E. Old Hickory Blvd, Madison, TN 37115.

Visitation with the family will be held on Friday prior to the service from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Madison Funeral Home.
