The first time I met Vince, my mom as she always did, volunteered my back out to help he and Camille move some things, because she had just sold them their home when they came here from New York. She told me, “I just sold a condo to a guy you’re going to be working with at Delta, and they could use some help!” I did as I always did when mom asked me to do something and went over. I fell in love with Vince as soon as he started talking!! He immediately started busting my chops about how big I was, and appreciated my coming over to help. After that day when he rolled into work he came over to me and said, “Thank you again for helping,” and preceded to tell me how much he adored my mom, and what a great lady she was for volunteering her son out to total strangers. We spent a lot of time together at work, and he always had such great stories about growing up in New York that I loved to hear. On Vince’s last day at work, he was on my crew, and as we were pushing the aircraft out, Vince was marshaling out the plane on the pilots side of the aircraft. I called up to the captain and said, “Hey can you do me a favor!?” He said, “sure what’s up?” I said, “The guy that will be saluting you, it’s his last day, he’s retiring.” Can you give him a proper New Yorker send off!!? He said, “What’s that?” I said, “when he salutes you, flip him off!” He laughed, and said, “you got it!” When we disconnected the plane from the jet tug, I started backing up slowly so I could see if the pilot would hold up his end of the bargain!!? Vince snapped out a salute, the pilot flipped him off, but because it was a sunny day out Vince apparently didn’t see what he did, and turned around and started walking back to the gate. I thought, well that was a bust!! Just then I saw the first officer
(a woman) opened up her window, climbed half way out of the plane, and screamed “HEY!!” Vince whipped around saw her hanging out the window, and started walking back to the aircraft to see what she wanted!?? She then screamed “FU&@ YOU” Flipped Vince the bird, and said,
“HAPPY RETIREMENT!!!” Vince stood there mouth wide open like a deer in the headlights!! I was rolling, he looked at me, shook his head and started cracking up!!! When we got back to the gate, I’m crying from laughing so hard, Vince came up to me and gave me a hug, and said “Thanks Stick!!” “that was the best flight I ever worked!” I’ve missed him ever since that final flip off!!!
Camille, words can’t express what an honor and privilege it was knowing your husband! I’m so glad my mom volunteered my back out to you all!! He was such a great guy!! My prayers, and heartfelt condolences go out to you, Giovanni, Jessica, and the entire family during this difficult time.

Sam and I are sending our sincerest condolences and prayers to Camille and the family. Vince was a special guy and I so enjoyed getting to know him over the years.
