William Stanley Thompson

William Stanley Thompson – Age 85, of West Nashville, passed from this life on Monday, February 9, 2026, at West Meade Place, after a brief illness.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Sterling and Irene Thompson; brother, Eugene Thompson; and nephew, Wayne King.

Stanley is survived by his silbings, Ruby Duke, Loretta Cantrell, and Billy Thompson; his son, Matthew Thompson and daughter, Barbara “Barbie” Jones; grandson, Cody Jones; nieces, Trudy Duncan, and Lori Neely; nephew, Jason Thompson; and a host of extended family members and friends.

He proudly served his country in the United States Army and later retired from Stauffer Chemical Company. An avid reader, he had a special fondness for Westerns. Stanley was known as an honest and gentle man.

The funeral service is scheduled for Wednesday, February 18, 2026, at River Road Church of Christ with Paul Darety officiating. Interment will follow at the Middle TN Veterans Cemetery with military honors. Family and friends will serve as the pallbearers.

Visitation with the Thompson family will be on Tuesday, February 17th, from 4:00pm until 7:00pm, then again on Wednesday February 18th, from 11:30am until service time at 12:30pm, all at River Road Church of Christ.
