THOMAS D. BUCHER, FUNERAL DIRECTOR
Growing up Thomas D. Bucher had a fascination with history, specially baseball and World War II and talking with people to learn all about their history. As a young child in Troy Ohio, he regularly visited with John Boehner, then Ohio Congressman, to find out all about what was going on in Washington.
Thomas is a continuous learner and reads several books each week.
Who knew all these interests would serve him well as a Funeral Director. Thomas connects with people on so many levels and can talk about a variety of subjects. Thomas is compassionate, caring and comforting to families in their time of loss. His greatest joy and most wonderful memories are of the many families he has assisted.
He has been serving the Rutherford County and Middle Tennessee community for nearly 20 years as a Funeral Director, embalmer, and much sought after preplanning specialist.
A native of Troy, Ohio, Thomas graduated from Troy High School in 2002. He is a graduate of the John A. Gupton College in Nashville and received his BA degree in History from the University of Memphis.
Thomas is very happily married to Kristie Robinson Bucher, who is a well-known and highly respected Physician’s Assistant specializing in Dermatology. Thomas and Kristie have two fur babies, Baron and Bismarck, who are the loves of their lives.
Thomas loves traveling, umpiring baseball games for the Smyrna Baseball League, boating, and the beach. Thomas and Kristie are very close friends with the family of Harmon Killebrew as well as other families of several former major league baseball players.
For several years Thomas was a featured guest on the Truman Jones radio show to discuss Major League Baseball and its colorful history, of which he is a noted expert. Thomas has also been very instrumental in finding the graves of many older baseball players and securing cemetery headstones for those whose graves that were unmarked through an organization he co-created, Gone But Not Forgotten: MLB Unmarked Graves Project.
Compassion is definitely the perfect name for Mr. Billy and Mr. Michael's service. These gentlemen are two of the most caring individuals, and this is greatly appreciated. Especially in the difficult time of dealing with the loss of a loved one. They took great care and detail in every aspect of the services they performed. they also took the extra step of help caring for our family emotionally. Our family is so very grateful for their help during such a hard moment in our life.
