Douglas Brent Goddard passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, leaving behind a family who loved him deeply and countless friends and colleagues whose lives he touched. Subsequent medical findings indicate an acute cardiac event.

Brent dedicated his career to serving others through public service. He spent many years with Metro Nashville Public Schools, where he was known for his hard work, dependability, and genuine care for those around him. He was currently employed with the Tennessee Department of Human Services, where he continued his commitment to serving his community with integrity and compassion.

Above all else, Brent loved his family. He was a devoted son, brother, uncle, and friend whose quiet strength, kind heart, and steady presence brought comfort to those who knew him. As a twin, he shared a lifelong bond with his brother, Blake, that was truly one of a kind—a connection marked by love, loyalty, and countless memories that will forever be treasured.

Brent will be remembered for his generous spirit, his willingness to help others, and the lasting impact he made through both his work and his relationships. Though his passing leaves an immeasurable void, his legacy of kindness, service, and love will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

Brent was preceded in death by his father, William Douglas Goddard.

He is survived by his loving mother, Regina Goddard; his twin brother, Blake (Brittney) Goddard; his sister, Brittany (Brandon) Vanatta; grandparents, Sandrea (Stanley) Bissinger, Kenneth (Donna) Barnes, Donna Clark, Kaye Spence, Billy (Sandra) Goddard, his extended family; dear friends; and colleagues who will forever cherish his memory.

The family appreciates the love, prayers, and support during this incredibly difficult time.
