Clifford Melvin Dobbs, Jr. passed away peacefully September 29, 2024, at the age of 88. He is survived by his wife, Wilma Lois Woodward Dobbs, and children, Mark Clifford Dobbs and Amy Dobbs Walker, of Nashville, TN; his grandchildren, Eric (Leah) Dobbs, Ashley (Allen) Vantrease, Phillip Walker, and Margret Dobbs; great grandchildren: Deacon Vantrease, Felicity Vantrease and Laurel Dobbs; numerous nieces and nephews that he loved dearly.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Clifford Melvin Dobbs, Sr. and Margret Letha Cooper Dobbs, brother Harold Dobbs, sisters Gail Dobbs Martin and Sarah Dobbs Floyd, and son, Joseph Tyron Dobbs.
Clifford was born on May 12, 1936, in Bethpage, TN. He graduated from Gallatin High School in 1954 and married his high school sweetheart, Wilma Woodward, on October 21, 1955. They were married 68 years and had 3 children. Clifford graduated from David Lipscomb College in 1963 with a B.A. in Speech and Religious Education. In 1981 he received a Master’s degree from the Alabama Christian School of Religion. While attending Lipscomb and working at H.G. Hills in Nashville, he also preached at Corinth Church of Christ. In 1963, he began preaching at the Watauga Street Church (Northeast Church of Christ) in Kingsport, TN, before returning to Nashville, where he was with West Nashville Heights congregation from 1973 until 1988. He later served as the preacher and an elder for Old Charlotte Road Church of Christ for 20 years before becoming an associate minister and elder at the Charlotte Heights congregation until his retirement.
He was a dedicated member of the Nashville Community and one time president of the Citizens for Decency Through Law organization and an active member of the Sertoma Club.
Clifford was passionate about sharing the good news of Jesus and taught many people about the love of God. He was a kind, patient, and loving man who showed the unconditional love and grace of Christ Jesus to everyone. He was a preacher for over 60 years and an elder of the church for many years.
Visitation with the Dobbs family will be on Saturday, October 5, 2024, from 1PM until 4PM, at Bellevue Church of Christ, then again on Sunday, October 6th from 1PM until 2PM. The funeral service will follow at 2PM at Bellevue Church of Christ. A private family interment will take place at Harpeth Hills Memory Gardens.

Clifford had a special in the heart of my family and baptized me my wife and children while at kingsport aand it broke my heart when he left. he had a wonderful wife also he will be misseddd and i am praying for the family
Clifford and his family were dear friends. He baptized my sister, myself and my Daddy and my husband lduring his time with us in Kingsport, Tennessee. He officiated the wedding of my sister and brother-in-law. He returned for the funerals of my parents. He will be missed but we will meet again.

Sorry to hear that Clifford has passed away. He was a great friend and help tp me in my preaching. I will miss talking to him and getting advice from him. Will be praying for his family.
My family had a special place in our hearts for Clifford, Wilma and the family. He was a very dear friend & he will be missed! He always helped with many family members funeral for our family! We will truly miss him and we are praying for the family!!
