Dale Robert Flood age 60, passed away unexpectedly on August 10, 2024, at his home in Nashville, TN. He was born on October 29, 1963, in Nashville, TN, to Sandra Lovre Lamb and Richard “Dick” Edmond Flood. He worked in receiving with Markraft Cabinets, displaying tradesman skills and kept a smile on his face that everyone enjoyed.
Dale spent his formative years living with his family and father, Dick Flood aka Okefenokee Joe, who was part of the vibrant sounds of the country music scene, a backdrop that would ignite a lifelong passion for music. Raised in Potomac, Maryland, Dale’s love for rock and roll was apparent from a young age as he would spend hours immersed in his record collection.
A self-taught guitarist, Dale’s musical talent blossomed during his teenage years. Alongside his best friends, they formed the band originally known as Asylum, to become notoriously known as Unorthodox. They would go on to release multiple albums, preformed extensively, and cultivate a dedicated following in Maryland, D.C. and in the U.S & Europe. Dale’s influence as a guitarist was profound, particularly within the Maryland Doom metal scene, where his skill and creativity left an indelible mark.
Dale eventually returned to Nashville, where he embraced his most important role as a devoted father while continuing to pursue his passion for music with Unorthodox. His talent extended beyond music; Dale’s interest in skilled carpentry led him to become adept in the labored art of fine trim work, where his steady hand and attention to detail brought him great satisfaction.
A lifelong fan of Washington football, Dale found joy in spending his Sundays watching games with his beloved cat, Loki. Despite his many passions, Dale always prioritized staying connected with his family and friends. He always attempted to better himself for the people he loved and was there for those who needed him most.
He is survived by his daughter, Lilly Alma Flood and her loving mother, Mandy Petersen; brothers, Danny, David and wife Jenny, Dondi, and Richard II Flood; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

RIP Old Friend
Lord, please help us practice confession. Help us to live an open life, confessing to God and those closest to us the pains and failings we’re tempted to bury. We don’t have to carry those burdens alone. Confession is a gift to us. God uses it to cleanse our heart and set us free. Lord, set our brother, Dale’s heart free from pain. Amen
Rest in heaven sweetheart
