Dannie K Birchfield, a proud veteran of the United States Army, passed away May 20th at his home with his girls by his side. He was also known as Honey, Daddy-O, Uncle Dan, and Papa Choo! He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Ethel Birchfield. Dannie grew up in Dwale, KY where he was born in February of 1946. At the age of 17, Dannie enlisted in the United States Army. He valued this service highly and attained the rank of Staff Sargent. As part of this service, he served one term in the Vietnam War and two terms in Korea in the 1st Calvary Division. He was awarded the Vietnam Galantry Cross for acts of Valor in Vietnam. He luckily survived some close calls and received an Honorable discharge. He loved this country and was the proudest American around. Dannie is survived by Patti, his spouse of nearly 56 years. He is also survived by his sister Anne (Jim) and his girls and grandkids, Missey (Darin), Austin, Jett; Pebbles (Larry), Andrew, Bella, Baby, Gracie, Alex; Kay (Jimmie), Trip, John and Jesse. Dannie has many other family members, Nieces, Nephews, and Cousins, that will truly miss him. His loved ones will tell you he had a heart of gold and would do anything for anybody. A service honoring the life of Dannie Birchfield will be held on Wednesday May 31st, Visitation will be held at Western Hills Church from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm, and Service/Burial will follow at 1:00 pm at the Middle Tennessee Veterans Cemetery. Note: Please feel free to wear whatever you would like, including Flag/Red/White/Blue in honor.
