David E. “Dave” Werner – Age 91, of Joelton, received his gift of eternal life on Friday, January 17, 2025. He is preceded in death his parents; his loving wife, Jean Werner; son, Gregg Werner; and his sister, Norma.
Dave is survived by his sons, Scott (Ruth) Werner and Todd Werner; grandchildren, Eric (Treja) Werner, Andrew Werner, Shea Werner, Brooke Werner, Kaitlyn Werner, Carlos Castro, and Valentina Castro; his sister, Judy (Paul) Dailey, of Hanover, PA; brother, Fred Werner, of Philadelphia; and a host of extended family members and friends.
Dave was born on October 10, 1932, in Hanover, PA. He was a graduate of King’s College and attended Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary in Massachusetts. He served churches in Delaware, Maryland, Florida, Indiana and Tennessee. Brother Dave was a longtime associate pastor of Park Avenue Baptist Church in West Nashville and beloved teacher of the Temple Bible Class at Park Avenue.
Brother Dave was instrumental in spreading the light of Jesus everywhere he went. He will be remembered for his ability to connect with people from all walks of life and offer the hope of Jesus to countless people in their times of need. He has now been blessed with his new glorified body that he has preached about for over half of a century. “To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord”. 2 Corinthians 5:8
Although Brother Dave has already preached his own funeral in the way that he lived, the family would like to invite you to join them in paying tribute to a wonderful man of God. Visitation with the Werner family will be on Saturday, January 25th from 10AM until 12PM. The service of celebration will follow at 12PM, all at Rolling Hills Community Church Nashville West Campus, located at 6727 Charotte Pike. Pastor Patrick Hamilton will officiate the service. Interment will follow next to his wife Jean at Joelton Hills Memory Gardens.
Flowers will be accepted at Compassion on Friday, or at the church on Saturday.
