Dorothy "Dot" Louise Singleton

Dorothy Louise Singleton was called home to meet her heavenly father on Friday, August 4th, 2023 at the age of 99. She is preceded in death by her mother, Katie Trevor, and father John Trevor, and husband James Albert Singleton, Sr., and sons John Allen Singleton and Randall Lynn Singleton, and daughter in law Marcia Singleton. She is survived by two sons James "Jim" Albert (Carolyn) Singleton, Jr. and Gary Wayne (Cathy) Singleton; and by grandchildren Kathy Lund, Jeff (Mary) Singleton, John (Traci) Singleton, Greg (Tamie) Singleton, Jamie Singleton, Emily (Robert) Gray, Randall (Emily) Singleton, and Curtis Singleton; and by many great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, friends and neighbors. The strong matriarch of the Singleton family, Dorothy was born in Nashville and lived here her entire life. She was known to friends as "Dot" and affectionately to her family as "Mama Dot". She served her community as a school crossing guard for 30 years from 1973 - 2003. She was married to her husband James Albert Singleton, Sr. for 81 years and in 2022 they were honored as being the longest married couple in the USA. Dorothy loved to dance and took extensive lessons in many dance forms in her youth. Her hobbies included sewing, quilting, crocheting, baking, gardening, ceramics and pottery, and pretty much anything crafty. She had a spunk and a beautiful light to her spirit that will be missed. Dorothy loved her family and friends, but most of all she loved her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ and faithfully attended church as a member of the Charlotte Road Baptist Church. Visitation with the family will be held on Tuesday, August 8th from 5:00pm until 7:00pm at Charlotte Road Baptist Church. A second visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 9th from 11:30am until 12:30pm with a service to follow at Charlotte Road Baptist Church. Internment at Woodlawn Memorial Park.
