Resided in: West Nashville, Tennessee

Dorothy “Dot” Mothershed, age 77, of West Nashville, passed peacefully from this life on Thursday, November 7, 2024, at her residence.

Dot is survived by her two sons, Duane Mothershed (Nina) of Nashville, TN, and John Mothershed of White House, TN; and her cherished grandchildren, Kayli, Kendall, and Scarlett Mothershed, who were the light of her life. She was preceded in death by her mother, Frances Evangeline Thompson, and her father, Martin Thompson.

Dot was born on March 30, 1947, in Nashville, TN. After graduating from Stratford High School in 1965, she devoted her life to her family and career. In 2001, she returned to Nashville to be closer to her sons and began working for McIntosh Murphy as an Accounts Payable and Payroll Coordinator, always serving with precision, integrity, and dedication.

Dot’s passions included reading, crocheting, and gardening, but her greatest joy was her family. Her heart and days were filled with their love and warmth. A devout and active member of Charlotte Road Baptist Church, Dot embraced her church family, finding great joy in fellowship, faith, and service. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of her family, friends, and all who were blessed to know her. Dot will be deeply missed and fondly remembered for her steadfast love, kindness, and gentle spirit.

A private family service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests
donations be made to Charlotte Road Baptist Church in honor of Dot’s memory.

  1. I am really in a state of shock to learn of Dot’s passing. When they were in Laurel County Kentucky, Dot and I were friends. I took care of baby John one night while his parents had other obligations. ( baby John slept in a drawer from my bedroom furniture— in the floor). Duane was a classmate of my son. Just so very sorry to hear this. Sending all of Dots family much love and my deepest sympathy.
