Emma Rose Lick

Emma Rose was overwhelmed with love which spread through her every action. She left this world at the young age of 10. She never met a stranger. She would walk right into their bubble with a touch and say, "Hey!" followed with the most beautiful smile. What she couldn't speak verbally, she communicated with her spirit. Her infectious giggle would brighten anyone's Soul. She could be equally feisty; she had a quirky sense of humor and was amused at her ability to get a rise out of the people she knew. Emma Rose was so smart and perceptive and had a keen ability to let those that knew her most in on her extreme intelligence! She LOVED her "Mommy," but ultimately was a daddy's girl. Her brothers whom she affectionally called "Baby Fletcher" and "Watsy" were her whole heart. She jokingly referred to them as "boss babies," one of her favorite movies. Her spirit animal was a "neigh horse." How appropriate her favorite show was about a horse named Spirit. "Spirit Riding Free." Emma Rose's spirit is now free from Rett Syndrome that affected her earthly body since age 2. She was survived by her mother Melissa Rushing, father Christopher Lick, brothers Fletcher Paul Lick and Watson Garner Williams, grandmother Angelia "Nani" Rushing, grandfather Paul "Pawpaw" Lick, great grandmother Ruth Howes, close cousins Wesley, Felicity, Sara, Henry, Olive, and Sigil, dearly loved aunts and uncles, friends, teachers, therapists, and doctors. Preceded in death by grandmother Pamela "Grandma" Lick and grandfather Terry "Papa" Rushing. 1. Emma Rose loved the movie Spirit so much. That was the first thing she usually wanted to do when she came over to our house. But the last couple of times we’ve seen her she was a social butterfly and was walking quickly through the house and playing with the kids. She would squeal with excitement and she was improving so much with her words and sentences it was amazing to watch. She was always such a bright ray of sunshine when I saw her, even if she was tired she had such a sweet disposition. She had a way of smiling through her eyes and she could literally look straight through to your soul. She was an angel on earth and she will continue to be a perfect angel in heaven. She is missed so much and we are all better for having known her.

  2. She was my whole heart. I’m not sure how mine is going to keep beating. Her 1st sentence was Nani’s House followed by CAKE. God please let her eat all the cake she wants. Daddy, please meet your beautiful Emma Rose and hug her for me till I get there. She was the best cuddle bug.

  3. Emma always had the most infectious laugher. No matter what kind of mood you were in, Emma always knew how to make it better, either with a bear hug or just coming and smiling at you with her big beautiful smile. She was a girl of very few words but that never stopped her from showing her love. I’ve never met anyone who knew her and didn’t feel loved by her. She was and forever will be the most kind hearted spirit the world has ever known, and I just know that she’s lighting up heaven already. I hope she gets to ride millions of horses and eat all the cake she could ever want. While Emma was taken home far too soon, I’m extremely greatful that I was able to be touched by her while she was here. She truly impacted my life for the better. Before Emma was born I had no idea how much one person could positively impact my life. There’s no bad days with Emma Rose. I will forever love you <3

  4. Emma always had a love for “Big Trucks” every time she would see a truck it was always “BIG TRUCK”. She had a laugh like no other. Her laugh could make anyone laugh or make a day better. Her hugs were the best hug you would ever get from anyone other than her. We miss and love you Emma Rose.

  5. Fly free in heaven, sweet Emma Rose. You will always be remembered and loved.

  8. “You don’t know.” I truly did and still do not know. I feel you will be a powerful intercessor for all of us that opened our hearts to you and many more who never got the chance. Numbers 6:24-26

  9. Q: How did you meet Emma? A: I met Emma Rose the first day of Kindergarten at Annunciation Catholic School. I was her teacher.

  10. Q: What will you miss most about Emma? A: I will miss your smile, sweet Emma Rose. I will miss the way you said “hey” to me every time I asked you a question. I will miss the hugs you gave me, especially during Mass at school. Although I will miss all of these things, I know that I will see you again in heaven. “He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death’ or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.” Revelation 21:4

  11. Emma Rose was in my second grade class. My class LOVED Emma Rose and lit up every time she walked in. I am a better person for knowing her! I know God is wrapping His loving arms around her ❤️

  12. Emma Rose saw Fletcher playing so we walked down toward him. She decided that she had walked enough and plopped down on the ground. She could hear a crow cawing and was looking for him. Missing you little girl. Aunt Wanda and Uncle Bruce are happy to have had you to love.

  13. Emma Rose was the brightest, most beautiful soul that I could have known. She would light up anytime she saw some of her favorite things/people. “Big truck” “Airplane!” “Boss baby” “Spirit” “Baby Fletcher” “Watsy” and “Mommy!” She loved her yogurt; it was a treat for her. She embraced anything and everything in life and even began to expand her words such as “interstate”! She will be missed so much, but I truly am a better person because of her.

  14. Beautiful, Emma Rose!! Our story is the truest testimony that God places people in our lives for a reason. You were such an amazing friend! We’ll always cherish the sweet moments we shared. I don’t think I’ll ever look at a swimming pool again without catching a glimpse of your smile! Just like Emma Grace, you loved the water. You’ll forever be the reminder for me, Emma Grace & Waylon that when life gets hard no matter what, we never lose HOPE 🕊🌈 We love you ♥️

  15. Emma Rose, You were full of life and laughter always! Even on my bad days you seemed to cheer me up. In the first two pictures, we were talking and you got so tickled when I repeated the word “Deer” back to you. In the third picture, we were waiting for “baby Fletcher” in the school line while watching “Boss Baby”. You will be missed, but will forever be loved!

  16. Our Emma Rose taught me that there is more to this life than what we can experience here on earth. I spent nearly every day with her and Fletcher for a year or so as their nanny when they lived in Columbus. The way she embraced those around her and her pure joy in the face of any adversary are examples I still draw from. The week prior to her crossing, I thought of her each day that week. While I think of Melissa and her family often, it was unusual for Emma Rose and Emma Rose only to be on my mind so continually. When I was told the news, I was heart broken; and yet, I could not help but find comfort in knowing there must have been some host preparing for her arrival. I love you dearly sweet angel.

  17. Q: How would you describe Emma to someone who had never met them? A: Emma Rose had a smile that would light up the room. Emma Rose loved music, dancing, cake, and enjoying riding the school bus. Emma Rose was one of a kind. She will truly be missed.

  18. Emma Rose was my only niece. She would walk into my house and immediately start yelling for cake, cause she knew Aunt Na’s house always had some yummy goodies she could get into. Taking her to ball games and sporting events was always a grand time, cause she could scream to her heart content at those players. She loved her cousin Sigil and was always looking for him when she came over, even if it was just to stare at him. She loved to cuddle up to the men in her life. She also loved my pups, and sometimes when I lost both Emma and Felix, I would find them curled up on a couch together.
