Euphemia Tomlinson Lampley

euphemia lampley

June 2, 1925 ~ May 24, 2024

Born in: Fairview, Tennessee
Resided in: West Nashville, Tennessee

Euphemia Tomlinson Lampley was born on June 2, 1925, and she passed away on May 24, 2024.

She is preceded in death by her parents, George Leslie Tomlinson and Rose Etta Tomlinson; her husband, Lloyd Lampley; sisters, Clemmie Hall and Juanita Stricker; brothers, George, Paul, Roger and Benton Tomlinson

Survived by her daughter, Vickie (Jim) Dillingham; her sisters in law, Nancy and Carolyn Tomlinson, Beatrice Allen, and several nieces, nephews, and friends.

“Pem” as she was known to her family, was born and reared on the family farm in Fairview, Williamson County. It was there she learned the value of hard work as the family struggled through the depression years. After graduating from Hillsboro High School, she would take that work ethic with her as she and Lloyd were married and moved to Nashville. She worked during the war effort at AVCO Industries as an airplane fabricator in the fashion of “Rosie the Riveter.” She would later work at Mays Hosiery Mill in West Nashville until becoming a full time stay at home mom. Being a child of the depression, she saved everything and made use of even the smallest piece of twine or wire. She loved to cook for her family and share with others her home-made bread, pickles, and the vegetables she canned or put in the freezer. She taught herself how to sew and made all her own clothes as well as all Vickie’s clothes until she got her first “store bought” outfit when she was in high school.

She was a long-time member of West Nashville Heights (now Charlotte Heights) Church of Christ and served many years along with Lloyd and others in the Adult Bible School program, Ladies Bible Class, Bible Call Program, and many other works in the church. She lived her live as an example to her family and others of the true sense of “letting your light shine before men.” She never wanted to be the center of attention and would be embarrassed if anyone singled her out for her efforts. She loved her family and always stayed connected with each of her brothers and sisters. She loved her husband and special daughter, but above all she loved her God and now can rest peacefully in His loving arms.

The family would like to extend a thank you to the staff of NHC for the care and concern shown over the years and all the other friends and family who have expressed their love though words of comfort, prayers, and small acts of kindness.
