Resided in: Nashville, Tennessee

Gabrielle Marie Brault, age 21, passed away on May 2, 2026, in Nashville, Tennessee surrounded by her family and friends following a courageous battle against brain cancer.

Gabrielle is survived by her loving parents, Pierre-Alexandre Brault and Jennifer Ann Brault (née Tesar); her cherished sister, Adeline Thérèse Claire Brault; her grandparents, Jean-François Brault and Jeanne-Marie Boutet; and her grandfather, Thomas Joseph Tesar, Sr.  She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Virginia LaVerne Tesar (née Theodus).

She was born on October 26, 2004, in Indianapolis, Indiana where she spent her early years.  She attended Saint Barnabas Catholic School through the fourth grade.  After moving with her family to Nashville, she continued her education at Saint Matthew Catholic School from fifth through eighth grade before attending Saint Cecilia Academy, where she graduated in 2023.

During her years at Saint Cecilia, Gabrielle excelled in academics and actively participated in extracurricular activities.  She proudly served as president of the senior class and was actively involved in varsity athletics, participating in soccer, swimming, and lacrosse. Her determination, kindness, spirit, and encouragement of others left a lasting impression on classmates, teammates, and teachers alike.

Following graduation, Gabrielle attended University of South Carolina, where she was in the Honors College and was honored to be accepted into the International Responsible Leadership Program. She was pursuing a business degree with concentrations in supply chain and mastering her french skills.  In January 2025, Gabrielle began an exciting adventure studying abroad at ESSEC Business School. Soon after arriving, she became ill and returned home, where she faced cancer with extraordinary courage, grace, and resilience. Throughout her battle, Gabrielle carried herself with quiet strength and without complaint, continuing her studies online taking a few courses throughout her treatment, inspiring all who walked beside her during that difficult journey. She was surrounded by her loving family and devoted friends and the unwavering support of her Catholic church community.

Gabrielle embraced life wholeheartedly and especially loved cheering on the Gamecocks at Saturday football games and supporting the women’s basketball team.  She enjoyed coming together as a family to enjoy good food and had a special love for Mexican and Japanese food as well as Chick fil A.   She loved a fun beverage, whether it be a pretty fruit drink or a fancy coffee.  She loved the beach: the coasts of France, our warm southern shores, or the beautiful shores of western Michigan, especially when the day ended with ice cream.  Whether it be babysitting or working at summer camps and afterschool programs she loved spending time with little ones and hoped to have a family of her own one day.  She enjoyed being bossy, especially with her “little” sister, which honed her leadership abilities.  She is remembered by her great sense of humor and wit which kept her going through tough days.

She believed in God and lived her Catholic faith quietly and devotedly and we know this helped strengthen and guide her throughout her life. She will be remembered for her bright smile, compassionate heart, deep faith, and the joy she brought to those around her.

Gabrielle’s memory will forever remain in the hearts of her family, friends, classmates, teammates, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.  We are honored to call her our daughter and sister.

  1. Chers amis,

  2. Gabrielle was a beautiful, brilliant, kind soul who seemed unstoppable. I will always remember the love and support she gave to her classmate Olivia, my youngest daughter. No words could fully express the sadness I feel for her family, and I can’t believe she’s no longer with us in this world. 💔

  3. The staff at the MCSC has heavy hearts for our co-worker Teresa, and her special bond with Gabrielle, and for ALL of Gabrielle’s family and loved ones. We are holding you close in our thoughts.

    Legrand Astrid

  6. I’m holding your family in my prayers. I’m sorry sweet Gabrielle has left us, she was a bright light.

  7. You were the perfect competitor for our family game nights. I loved watching you giggle with my daughters and tease my son. I knew you were officially a member of our tribe when we lovingly gave you the nickname ‘French Vanilla.’ I always smiled at the way your twin dimples matched my son’s.
You introduced my baby boy to cooking and cultural traditions that still come to mind during the holidays. Meeting your parents and celebrating life’s milestones alongside them showed me exactly where your gentle kindness, sense of humor, and welcoming grace came from.
You, my dear French Vanilla, will continue to bring a smile to my face and warmth to my soul as I remember the joy you brought to our tribe. Until my next season, fly high, my sweet French Vanilla.

  8. We’re deeply sorry for your loss. May the joyful memories of your daughter bring you strength, and the knowledge that she is with God bring you peace.

  9. Pierre Alexander & family,
There are no words that can truly hold the depth of this loss. Gabrielle was clearly so deeply loved, and that love will never fade. I am holding you and your family close in my thoughts and prayers here in Ireland, and asking God to surround you with comfort, strength, and peace in the difficult days ahead.
May Gabrielle’s light continue to shine in every memory, every story, and every moment she touched.
    God bless you all
    Ruth
