Gary Lee Seelye
October 9, 1955 ~ April 22, 2023
Gary Lee Seelye, age 67, of Spring Hill, Tennessee passed away on Saturday, April 22, 2023. Born on October 9, 1955, Gary was loved by all that knew him. He passionately loved his family, friends, and Jesus, and wasn’t afraid to tell you so. Gary was at once a man’s man, with an unmatched work ethic, an innate ability to fix anything, and an unwavering stance on faith and his deep devotion to God; but Gary was also a compassionate soul with a steadfast love for people and animals. His hands were calloused and worn from decades of hard work and helping anyone who needed it. But he would use those same hands to lovingly pet his dogs, give big hugs to close friends and family, and firmly shake the hands of new friends he met seemingly every day. Gary was a genuine provider who was known to make big, delicious meals with steak and all the sides, always happily commanding his guests to get a second helping after they had just finished their first. He was a patriotic American, and with a sense of great pride for his country, he could always be found with an American flag displayed somewhere nearby. Gary’s big laugh, deep voice, and welcoming smile filled every room he inhabited. He was a beloved husband, father, PopPop, brother, uncle, and friend and will be greatly missed by so many. Gary was preceded in death by his parents Eugene Seelye and Shirley Elonzae and his beloved son Gary Seelye Jr. He is survived by his best friend and wife of 27 years, Billie; his daughters Haven DuBose (Billy DuBose), Bettina Hamblin (David Hamblin), and Lindsey Campbell (Chris Campbell); Grandsons Brody DuBose and Jude Campbell; Granddaughters Maddie McCann, Hadley Hamblin, and Caroline Campbell; his sisters Sherrie Kay Beaver (Paul Beaver) and Mary Jo Olschanski (Ed Olschanski); his brother, Les Seelye (Dorris Seelye); nieces, Nikole Fore, Jennifer Weiser, Katie Henry; nephews, Paul Beaver and Nathan Seelye; along with many family members and friends. Gary’s last selfless act here on earth was being an organ and tissue donor. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday. May 20th, at the Lodge at Southern Springs from 2PM until 4PM. In lieu of flowers, we ask for donations made in Gary’s honor to St. Jude Children’s Hospital. My dear precious husband. I love and miss you more than I can ever express. I pray you are finally resting in peace but I just wish I was there with you. I’m sure you’ve met Jesus by now and are as happy as a lark and you are just fine. Some day I’ll be fine as well. Until then God bless you my wonderful husband until we meet again in Glory 💔😘
Mary Dodie, a name only one person ever called me, My big brother, my protector, my friend. Gary and I were 17 months apart and he could not say Mary Jo so my nickname became Mary Dodie but everyone else shortened this to Dodie. I will forever miss hearing him say “MARY Dodie HEY!” My heart tells me I will hear him calling again. The three of us were more than siblings we were best friends . Big Brother , Friend, Protector, Gary Seelye’s little sister.
