Derrek’s huge smile, and laughter, were infectious, and I never saw him without it. Derrek was a very kind, gentle man, and I’m very honored to have known him! Sincerely with love and prayer, Polly Wilkerson Retired/NSCC

The best high school football announcer. He always called my son Austin, the double nickel because he was #55. Will be praying for his family and lifting his boys up in prayer.
We are so sorry for your loss. Your whole family is in our thoughts and prayers. I have watched the boys grow up in Pam’s Facebook page as a proud grandmother. 🙏🙏🙏 Phyllis McElroy
Derrek, your going to be missed. Working with you for 6.5 years, I couldn’t have asked for a better boss, or friend. We laughed a lot Olé Buddy. Time passes so fast. Death isn’t the end. its just a new beginning brother. Love ya . B.
It has been my privilege to call Derrek, not only my boss, but my friend. He has been supportive of myself and my career over the years. I will miss our morning talks. He was always the bright spot of my morning before ending my shift. May God watch over his children and family. Jeff Myers, NSCC Security Officer
It’s So hard to express what I feel about Derrek. He’s been a 2nd brother, a great friend, an athletic inspiration and someone that I know loves me as much as I love him ! Derrek always said that his ‘coaching’ and ‘schooling’ me was the only reason I got a basketball scholarship. I’d never admit it, but he was probably right! He was my great friend! It didn’t matter if we hadn’t seen each other in over a year – we knew our friendship was still as strong as ever! I love you my friend and will miss you more than you’ll ever know !
Norma, I am saddened to hear of Derrek’s passing. My prayers and thoughts are with you and your family. May God strengthen and comfort you. Love Valerie Harris
I am so saddened and my heart breaks for the family. Derrek was always so nice to me. Everyday here at Nashville State, as I walk up the sidewalk, it’s as though I still see him so clearly with his friendly, “Hey Pam”. He will truly be missed. My heartfelt sympathy to NeelyAnn and all the family. Bless you each during this absolutely tragic time. I lost my own brother and understand your deep loss. Sincere love and sympathy :(.
I was a co-worker of Derrick’s at NSCC from 1999 until I retired in 2012. He was a great person and was always helpful to me. My deepest condolences to Derrick’s family.
