Hanson E. “Muff” Farmer, Jr., of Spring Hill, Tennessee, passed peacefully at his home on December 10th, 2022, following a very long illness. He was born May 3,1956, in Nashville, Tennessee, to the late Hanson E. Sr., and Bertha McCaskey Farmer. For more than 40 years, Muff was an active paramedic. Over the decades, he taught and trained 100’s of paramedic students at Volunteer State and Southeastern Institute. He loved camping, fly fishing, scuba diving, NPR, black and white movies, Doc Savage comics, Eric Clapton, John Wayne, his MG’s, tinkering with automobiles, and maintaining a plethora of useless knowledge that he freely shared with everyone. Muff loved all kinds of pets, but especially his dogs -- Rocky and Ed. He also had a ferret, several pot-bellied pigs, and Mick the cockatiel (after Mick Jagger), who liked to spit his birdseeds at Muff. Muff is survived by wife of 36 years, Rebecca “Becky” Farmer; children, Michael (Jessica) Johnson, Katy (DJ) Angland, Cassie (Nick) Colman – who claims she was Muff’s favorite child, and Alex (Ashley) Farmer; 3 grandchildren, Sydney Rose Angland, Shephard Edwin Angland, and Campbell Grace Johnson; 3 sisters, and several nieces and nephews. Muff’s family wishes to thank Compassus Hospice and the St. Paul’s Episcopal Church family for their care and support during this difficult time. A celebration of life will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, January 14, 2023, at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Franklin, Tennessee with a reception following in Otey Hall. Memorial donations in Muff’s honor are encouraged to St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 510 West Main Street, Franklin, TN 37064, or online www.stpaulsfranklin.com Arrangements in the care of Compassion Funeral & Cremation Services, Nashville, TN (615) 857-9955.
