It is with great regret that we announce the passing of Jack W. Griffith, 93, of Nashville, Tennessee. Jack passed away peacefully at the hospital on Saturday, August 24, 2024. He was born on January 22, 1931, to Hugh and Eva Griffith. He married Joyce H. Griffith on July 7, 1973. Jack was raised in Sylvan Park and attended Cohn High School and graduated from Hume Fogg High School. After graduation, he enlisted in the Navy and served four years in Pensacola, Florida during the Korean War.
Returning to Nashville, he entered the printing business and with partners they started Commercial Engraving. He was a longtime former member of Park Avenue Baptist Church, and now a member of Bellevue Baptist Church.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents, Hugh and Eva Griffith, his brother, sister-in-law and nephew Turner, Sarah and Robert Griffith; his nephew, Brian Humphrey. He is survived by his wife Joyce Griffith, sister-in-law, Beverly (Bobby) Strickland; nieces, Martha (Bill) Boeglin, Leanne Strickland (Doug) Owen, nephews Rob (Melissa) Strickland and Wesley Humphrey. He is also survived by six great nieces and four great nephews.
Visitation will be Wednesday, August 28, 2024, at Bellevue Baptist Church from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM. The funeral service will follow at 11:00 AM with Pastor Drew Boswell, Leon Edwards, and Bobby Strickland officiating. Burial will be at Harpeth Hills Memory Gardens at 12:30 PM. Pallbearers will be Rob, Samuel, and Jack Strickland, Doug, Carter, and Cooper Owen, Alex Turner, and William Rodriguez. Honorary Pallbearers are Billy Humphrey and Joel Wright.
