Larry Parris- Age 84, born on May 17, 1939, in Paris, TN, entered the gates of heaven on January 1, 2024, as he met his Lord & Savior Jesus Christ.
Larry is survived by his wife, Loretta Fay, who served the Lord with him for 62 years of their marriage. He was ordained as a deacon at Park Avenue Baptist Church where he served and attended for approximately thirty years. During this time, he was involved with Park Avenue’s large bus ministry. Every Sunday his bus could be seen pulling out, as he drove into the neighborhoods, searching for boys and girls to ride with him to Sunday School. Over the years many young people accepted the Lord and still live for Him today. All of his riders loved him dearly.
Larry is also survived by his two sons, Ritchie (Susan) Parris, of Nashville and Shawn (Angela) Parris, of Paris, TN; his cherished 5 grandchildren, Justin Parris, Chelsae (Ryan) Castaneda, Amber (Michael) Rice, Ryan (Alex) Parris, and Austin (Savannah) Parris; great grandchildren, Emmett, Waylon, Theodore, and Audrey.
Larry is preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Margaret Parris and a brother, Paul A. Parris, Jr.
His places of employment include the Newspaper Printing Corp, Typecraft Co., and Parris Tool and Die. Before retirement Larry, along with his son Ritchie, owned and operated Parris Printing for over 25 years. His hobbies included boating, skiing, fishing, golf and camping with the grandchildren every summer. Larry will be greatly missed by his friends at Scottsboro Baptist Church where he has served and worshipped for the past 15 plus years.
A Celebration of Larry’s life will be on Monday, January 8, 2024, at 1:30PM, at Western Hills Church (7565 Charlotte Pike) with Brother David Clifford officiating. Special music will be provided by his grandson, Austin, and friend Emily, along with George Osment, Jr, from Scottsboro. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. The burial will follow at Harpeth Hills Memory Gardens.
Visitation with the Parris family will be on Sunday, January 7, 2024, from 2PM until 6PM, then a short time on Monday from 12:45PM until the service time at 1:30PM, all at Western Hills Church.
