James “Jimmy” T Ellis- age 68 of Nashville, passed away in his childhood home on 5/15/2023. The son of the late Pierce S. Ellis Jr. and Harriet Patterson Ellis was born on 12/6/1954 in Nashville, TN having been raised up in the Christian tradition at Crievewood United Methodist Church. From a young age Jimmy had become a proficient musician and played in many local bands across decades in the local music scene. He had been given the nickname “The Flame” due to his talent in shredding guitars. James had also served many years in the profession and was a proud member of the American Federation of Musicians Chapter 257. James had also served many years for Gibson Epiphone and had proudly been the lead technician on the Legacy Series 1965 John Lennon guitars. He is survived by his loving children Joseph Pierce Ellis and Selena Grace (Zachary) Stewart, granddaughters Anna Grace, Olivia, Claire, and siblings Robert Pierce Ellis, Catherine Ellis (Brian) McAteer, nieces Stephanie Ellis (Nick) Perna, Blair Ellis (Jef) Ulmes, and nephews James Michael (Erica) McAteer, David (Robyn) McAteer, and Matthew E. Lloyd. Visitation with a memorial service will be held at Crievewood United Methodist Church on Saturday, June 3, 2023, with visitation 12:00pm-2:00pm with Celebration of Life to follow. In lieu of flowers please consider a contribution to the American Federation of Musicians or your favorite charity in his honor.   1. Jimmy was always so patient and kind with me, his guitar obsessed nephew, letting me play his black Les Paul and sharing stories about gigs. We got to jam together on my last visit, which was one of my life list goals. Sending Peace and Love to everyone missing Jimmy Ellis. Heaven’s band has a new member. Godspeed Uncle Jimmy.
