Jean Allen Bracey

December 11, 1930 — July 11, 2026

Jean Allen Bracey, age 95, went to be with her Lord and Savior on July 11, 2026.

Born on Alabama Avenue in Nashville, TN, on December 11, 1930, Jean was the cherished only child of John Denton Allen and Nancy Fuller Allen. She was raised in Sylvan Park where she graduated from Cohn High School. She treasured her memories of playing in the neighborhood and visiting family in Hickman County. After marrying Don in 1949, she lived in Daytona Beach, Jacksonville, and Atlanta before returning to Tennessee, gathering many lifelong friends along the way.

Jean was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who devoted her life to caring for others. Her genuine warmth and nurturing spirit made her easy to love. Through her talents in cooking, storytelling, quilting, and beautiful French hand sewing, Jean brought joy and beauty into the lives of those around her. A lifelong follower of Jesus, Jean deeply valued her faith community; she served alongside her husband as a founding member of Holly Hill Church of Christ in Daytona and loved her church family wherever she lived.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 63 years, Donald Hugh Bracey; her cousin, Betsy Timmons; and close friends, Bob and Edith Keith. She is survived by wonderful cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Lovingly known as “Mama Jean,” her legacy lives on through her family: daughters Donna Bracey Stewart and Debbie Bracey Gott (Randy); grandchildren Christina Barnes (Jonathan), Kathryn Holliday (Robert), Carlton Stewart (Tish), Bracey Mayo (Kyle), Emily Kusak (Kevin), Elizabeth Homik (J.P.), and Stewart Gott; great-grandchildren Jean Louise, Virginia, Charlotte, Elizabeth, Jeb, and Knox Barnes; Robert, Lilly, and Ruth Allen Holliday; Evelyn, Rad, and Hunt Stewart; Maggie and Hugh Mayo; Lillie and Sam Kusak; Josephine, Louise, and Rand Homik.

Please join us in celebrating Jean’s life on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, at Bellevue Church of Christ. A visitation will begin at 12:30 pm before the 1:00 pm memorial service. The family requests that memorial gifts be made to Mount Dora Children’s Home at 301 W 13th Ave, Mt Dora, FL 32757.
