John Joseph Rush

John Joseph Rush, 71, passed away on September 14, 2026, at Dale Hollow Lake, in Tennessee. He was born on July 4, 1955, in Indianapolis, Indiana, the son of Eugene H. and Pauline M. Rush. He graduated from Arsenal Technical High School in 1973.

John began his working career in 1971, while still in high school, at White Arts / St. Clair Press in Indianapolis. After more than four decades there, he joined SDI Innovations, where he continued to work up until his passing. His strong work ethic was matched by his devotion to his family, for whom he was a steady and dedicated provider. He was always willing to lend a hand to anyone in need.

Outside of work, John had a love for speed. He was a devoted fan of NASCAR and NHRA drag racing, and he was never happier than when he was out on the water on a jet ski.

John is survived by his wife of 51 years, Julia; his son, Jason (Stormy); his grandson, Ayden; his siblings, Ricky and Paula; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene H. and Pauline M. Rush.

A celebration of John’s life will be held on Saturday, October 17, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Greenwood Community Center, 100 Surina Way, Greenwood, Indiana 46143. Family and friends are welcome to join in remembering and honoring John.
