February 25, 1940 ~ June 22, 2026

Born in: El Paso, Texas
Resided in: Fairview, Tennessee

John Woll Mandell, 86, died peacefully at his home in Fairview, Tennessee, on Monday, June 22, 2026. Born and raised on his family’s dairy farm in
Canutillo, Texas, John carried the values of hard work, patience, and quiet strength with him throughout his life.

He worked as an electrical engineer for Mountain Bell in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and later as a computer technician for various companies in
South Florida. Though dedicated to his career, his work was never the center of his life; his faith and his family always came first. John was a devoted and active member of his church communities, including St. Peter’s Anglican Church in Albuquerque, and later St. Augustine’s and The Church of the Holy Guardian Angels in South Florida. And finally, St. Andrew’s Anglican Church in Nashville.

John was a kind and gentle man who loved his family profoundly. He possessed a deep passion for nature and eagerly shared that love with his loved ones, frequently taking his children, nieces, and nephews camping, fishing, and hiking. A faithful, steady presence in the lives of everyone who knew him, John was never too busy to help someone in need.

He is survived by his brother, Bill and sister Jean; his children, Debi, Alice, Wesley, Kathy, and Greg; his seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. All of them proudly carry forward his legacy of love and gentle nature.
