Margaret Eileen Burns Wells

Eileen Burns Wells, age 78 of Nashville, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 28, 2024. She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, John A. Wells, III and her parents James L. Burns Sr, and Anne Elizabeth Tuohy Burns and brothers James L. Burns, Jr. and John E. Burns. For over 30 years, Eileen worked in administration including Holy Rosary and St. Joseph parishes. Eileen was one of nine children in a large family and never met a stranger. Her home was always open to anyone, and she was a “surrogate mama” to many.

She is survived by her son, John A. (Portia) Wells, IV of Pleasant View, TN; daughter Mary Beth (Kevin) Hodge of Summit, KY; granddaughters Katie Pollard, Alyson Hodge, and Aubrey Hodge. In addition, she is survived by many brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, and friends.

Visitation will be held from 1:00-4:00 pm on Sunday, March 3rd at Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Visitation will continue on Monday, March 4th from 9:00-11:00 am, and a funeral mass will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, March 4th at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 190 Graylynn Drive, Nashville, Tennessee 37214. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery.

Honorary pallbearers: Joseph P. Burns, Sr., Michael W. Burns, Charles H. Keel, Stephen E. Oakley, and Denny M. Dobbs. Pallbearers: Michael Keel, Stephen Keel, Stephen L. Oakley, Patrick Oakley, Ray Tant, Joseph P. Burns, Jr., Jason Burns, Bryan Johnson, Luke Dobbs, Lane Dobbs, and Eric Scholer.
