Maureen Gail Lane (Pflieger) aged 84 passed away peacefully at St Mary’s ICU Madison WI on Saturday May 15th, 2021, with her two children Todd Lane and Jenny Lane by her side, as well as niece, Debra Roemer. Maureen was born in Humbird, WI August 16th, 1936. Maureen graduated from Lincoln High School in 1954. When she turned 18, she could not wait to get off the farm and experience city life in Madison. She packed her most prized possessions; Her Blue Jeans from the Fairchild Farmer store, her year books, and Elvis Presley’s first Album, and set off to Madison. Shortly thereafter, she got a job at the telephone company as a telephone operator and met her husband to be, a fly boy in the Airforce, at The Country Cousins Bar in Sun Prairie, WI. Soon they took off as a Military family and lived in many states including California, Florida, New Mexico, Ohio and Texas. They welcomed baby Todd to the family in 1962. From 1968 to 1970 they were stationed in the Panama Canal Zone, there are many stories of concern as well as excitement and joy during this time. After retiring from the Airforce Maureen, Richard and Todd returned to Wisconsin in 1976. At the age of 41 in 1977, Maureen was surprised at the arrival of baby Jenny. Maureen, Richard, and Jenny moved to the beautiful foothills of Ashville North Carolina in 1987, where Richard lived out his last years. Jenny and Maureen moved back to Wisconsin to be with family in 1991. Maureen enjoyed being the life of the party, Dancing, Singing and just being generally hilarious with of the cuff remarks. Although her loss leaves a large and seemingly endless trench in our hearts, she would ask that you fill the emptiness with songs sung by Pasty Cline, Elvis, and Willie Nelson. She is preceded in death by her husband Richard Alan Lane (1990), as well as her parents Freda and Joe Pflieger, 8 Sisters and 4 Brothers. Maureen is the youngest of 13 children. She leaves behind her two children as well as dozens upon dozens of Cherished Nieces, Nephews and extended family and friends. A Celebration of Life Dinner will be planned for a later date.
