Mildred Hazel Armstrong Born June 3, 1928, departed from this life on Monday, June 26, 2023. She grew up in West Nashville. She was a bookkeeper for many years. Later in life she lived in Leiper’s Fork with her mother. She loved to quilt and was a member of the Senior Citizens at Hillsboro School in Leiper’s Fork. She was a Lifetime member of the VFW and loved being a member of the Cooties at the VFW. She loved to bowl and dance. She is preceded in death by her mother, Clara Burdette; her daughters Judy Gail Armstrong and Brenda Sue Bruce; her sons William Gary Armstrong, Glenn Armstrong, and Tommy Armstrong; her grandson Mike Tibbs; and many other loved family members. She is survived by her special friend Gilbert LaForest; son in law Gary Bruce; grandsons William Armstrong Jr, John (Terri) Armstrong, Gary (Jamie) Bruce Jr; and Calvin “Woody” Pentecost; granddaughters Jennifer (Adam) Akins, Vanessa (Jason) Dean, and Stephanie Tibbs; 14 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandson. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to VFW Post 8422, 10157 Old Nashville Highway, Smyrna, TN 37167. Or VFW Post 1970 7220 Charlotte Pike Nashville, TN 37209. Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, July 1, 2023, at 1PM, at Western Hills Church (7565 Charlotte Pike) with interment to follow at Harpeth Hills Memory Gardens. Pallbearers will be Jason Tibbs, Jason Dean, Adam Akins, Adam Akins, II., Charlie Goodreau and Woody Pentecost. Honorary pallbearer will be Gilbert LaForest. Visitation with the family will be on Friday from 2PM until 4PM, then again on Saturday from 12PM until the service time at 1PM, all at Western Hills Church.
