Myrna Malone Vlahos was born in Cullman, Alabama on September 21,1944 as the second child of Eugene and Ina Malone. She grew up in the nearby town Oneonta, Alabama with her sister and lifelong best friend, Linda Malone Sartain. In 1967, Myrna met and married Leon Vlahos in Birmingham, Alabama. Soon after marrying, Myrna and Leon moved to Nashville, Tennessee where they built a loving community of family and friends. In 1995, Myrna and Leon opened Nashville’s Pralines by Leon-carrying on the Vlahos family tradition of Birmingham’s Mary Ball Candies. They worked tirelessly side-by-side in the candy shop located in Butler’s Run on 2nd Avenue in downtown Nashville where they welcomed candy lovers from all over the country. Myrna owned and operated Pralines by Leon until her retirement in 2022. Myrna was a wonderful mother, grandmother and friend. She loved the Lord and held close to her faith. She was quiet and humble, but vocal and strong when the situation called for it. Myrna was incredibly patient and accepting and lived a life filled with generosity, wisdom, strength and integrity.
Myrna returned to her Creator on her 80th Birthday surrounded by family. She is survived by her son Chris Vlahos (Tara), daughter Stephanie Vlahos and daughter Courtney Smith (Bryan). As Yia Yia, she is survived by her five grandchildren, Sofia, Stella and Emma Vlahos and Stefan and Hill Smith.
Visitation will be held at Christ Church Cathedral in Downtown Nashville Friday, September 27th at 2:00pm. Her service will follow at 3:00pm. The family has asked that, in lieu of flowers, friends consider donating to Southern Reins Center for Equine Therapy or a charity of your choice.

Chris – what a blessing your Mom was in my life. From the 3rd grade through the last time I saw her in Nashville a few years ago, she always had a word of encouragement and support for me. Her smile and laugh will be with me always. You, your family, Stephanie, and Courtney are in my thoughts and prayers at this time.
