Nancy J. Quinn born Oct. 5, 1931 went home to heaven to reunite with her daughter Rita Bennett Croxall and her beloved parents J.D. & Ethel Austin and husband Anthony “Tony” Quinn on Saturday February 5th, 2022. Nancy lived an incredible life. Born and raised in Nashville, she grew up blocks from Vanderbilt where she would park cars in the yard for .25 during the football games. She spent her days in Centennial Park swimming, watching movies, and playing croquette where Mrs. Garfinkel would watch over the children and keep them in line. As a teenager, she would ride the electric streetcar to the Hippodrome to roller-skate each evening (except Tuesdays when there was wrestling). She worked the lunch counter at Woolworths before marrying and having her beloved daughter Rita. Nancy had a career with bonding and insurance where she worked many years at Gayle Smith until she retired at age 70. For most of her adult life she was a member of “morning coffee clubs” where she formed many cherished friendships. She and Tony were charter members of the “coffee club” at McDonald’s in Hermitage since the early 80’s. Later, she was a pivotal figure in the Music Valley area where she could be found hootin’ with dear friend John A. Nancy will hold a special place in the hearts of everyone that knew her forever. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to Alive Hospice whose care allowed her to remain in her home - exactly as she wished or the Nashville Humane Association to honor her love of pets. Per her wishes, a graveside only service will be held Wednesday, February 9th at 1:30 pm at Hermitage Memorial Gardens at 535 Shute Lane, Old Hickory, TN 37138
