April 30, 1954 ~ November 1, 2024
Born in:
Brussels, Belgium
Resided in:
Nashville, Tennessee
Paul Coffin of Nashville slipped away quietly on Friday, November 1, 2024, All Saints Day. He was 70 years old. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Vickie, his son Paul (PJ), his daughter-in-law Natalie, his granddaughter Evelyn, brothers John, Sam, David, and Mark as well as his mother, Lou Alice.
Paul was born on April 30, 1954, in Brussels, Belgium. He lived in The Belgian Congo, Nashville, Austin TX, Montreat NC, Scotland County NC, and Atlanta. He graduated from Nashville’s Hillwood High School in 1972 and St. Andrews Presbyterian College in 1976. He married Vickie three weeks after graduation. The two of them set up house in Nashville, where Paul started a long career in the printing business.
Paul was a humble man, so he would be embarrassed by praise. But… He was handsome. He was kind. He had a sense of humor. He was imaginative, making up fun things to do with his granddaughter. He was smart about math, mechanics, and matters of the soul. And he cooked! He was a good photographer. He fixed broken things. He enjoyed golfing, vacationing, and talking with his buddies. He liked to go fishing and crabbing with his son and daughter-in-law. He was well-loved.
A celebration of Paul’s life will be held on Saturday, November 16, 2024, at 4:00, at The Downtown Presbyterian Church, located at 154 Rep. John Lewis Way in Nashville. A reception will follow the service.
In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Tennesseans for Alternatives to the Death Penalty at https://tennesseedeathpenalty.org or Doctors without Borders at www.doctorswithoutborders.org.
