Ralph Robert Herrick

Ralph Robert Herrick, age 92, passed away on October 24, 2023. He was born in Quincy, Illinois on January 4, 1931, to Dorothy and Earl Herrick and had a close relationship with his aunt and uncle, Ella and Ralph Meyer.

After earning a master’s in mechanical engineering from the University of Illinois in 1953, he was hired by General Electric to educate engineers, eventually transitioning to aerospace design. In 1970 he pivoted to a new career path in healthcare, eventually becoming Vice President of Health America in Nashville. He continued to develop HMO programs as Robert Herrick Associates through 2001.

He married Dale Rogers Creasey in 1987 at Woodmont Christian Church, where they were active members and served in many leadership positions. They shared a love of gardening, needlepoint, travel and ballroom dancing. He was a kind and loving father to their combined family and an ardent Scrabble player.

He is survived by his children, Scott Herrick (Tracy), John Herrick (Michael Lovett), Susan Rutkowski-Herrick (Alice) and Tom Herrick (Kim Wilkens); stepchildren, Tom Creasey (Megan) and Terri Rice; grandchildren, Clark Creasey, Sara Penn, Emma Delaney, Xander Herrick, Lillian Herrick, Rebecca Herrick; and great-granddaughter Alexandria Penn. He was predeceased by his wife, Dale, and son-in-law, Steve Rice.

A memorial service will be held on Monday morning, October 30, 2023, at 11 a.m. at Woodmont Christian Church. Visitation will follow the service. Memorial gifts may be made to Woodmont Christian Church, 3601 Hillsboro Pike, Nashville, TN 37215 or to the charity of your choice.
