Raymond Bobby Horton passed away peacefully at Alive Hospice in Nashville, Tennessee on June 3, 2026, at the age of 78. Raymond was born in Detroit, Michigan on February 3,1948 to the late Charles Horton and Vincenta Talarico.
Raymond moved with his family from Detroit, Michigan to Madison, Tennessee in 1961, where he would build a life centered on hard work, family, and service to others. He graduated from Madison High School in 1966 and began his career with DuPont, where he worked for 18 years. Following his time at DuPont, Raymond successfully owned and operated several businesses. For more than 40 years, he devoted himself to operating charitable bingo at Bingo World in Franklin, Kentucky, a calling that became his true passion. Through his dedication and leadership, millions of dollars have been raised for charities supporting veterans of the United States military.
Raymond took immense pride in his work and led by example, showing up every day through both good times and difficult circumstances. He was deeply committed to the people who worked alongside him and was known for his generosity, loyalty, and genuine care for others.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Raymond found his greatest joy in spending time with his family. He loved traveling to the beaches of Tampa, Florida and the mountains of Colorado with his companion, Lisa, as well as enjoying family vacations in Seacrest Beach, Florida. Some of his favorite moments were spent playing Texas Hold’em and other card and board games with family and friends. At home, he enjoyed working in the yard, feeding the birds, and spending time with his beloved feline companions, Solomon, Cooper, Ruthie, and Nash. Raymond especially cherished watching his grandchildren compete in sporting events and cheer competitions, proudly supporting them every step of the way. His kindness, work ethic, sense of humor, and unwavering devotion to family will be remembered always. He will be dearly missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Along with his parents, Raymond was preceded in death by his sister Betty Clark. He is survived by his loving companion of 28 years Lisa Crook; his sons Rob (Tiffany) Horton and Don Horton (Crystal Moore); his stepsons Jake (Marie) Resha and Justin Crook; his grandchildren Trevor, Erica, Nathan, Natalie, Noah and Ella; his sisters Dolores (Ben) Hassell and Gloria Harrington; his brother Jimmy (Karen) Horton; and several nieces, nephews, and dear friends. He is also survived by Brandy Brown who is like a daughter to him and her son, Kane Smith, whom he loved like a grandchild.
