  1. God looked around his garden and found an empty place.
He then looked down upon the Earth and saw your tired face.
He put his arms around you and lifted you to rest.
With the help of his angels, they flew you to your heavenly place.

Gods garden must be beautiful, he always takes the best.
He knew you were suffering; he knew you were in pain.
He knew that you would never get well on Earth again.

He saw the road was getting rough and the hills too hard to climb.
He closed your weary eyelids and whispered, “Peace be Thine.”
It broke our hearts to lose you, but you didn’t go alone.
For part of us went with you the day God called you home.

  2. Robert’s absence will be deeply felt. Our paths crossed in Uganda during the Street Business School Immersion workshop, where he represented Souls4Soles. His guidance and advice have been pivotal in advancing my career in the nonprofit sector.

  3. I’m so very sorry to hear about Robert’s untimely passing. I knew him through Nashville CARES and saw him around town for many years. He was a smart, caring, thoughtful individual who tried to do good for others at every opportunity. Please accept my sincere condolences, Jesse.

  4. Robert was a compassionate, insightful and amazing champion for many. Through his involvement and influence with Nashville CARES he did so much good for hundreds of people. I appreciated his wise counsel and advice for many years. A quiet yet inspiring leader for hundreds of people. Our world is much better due to his work and compassion.

  5. Robert and I were friends in college. He was always a sweet and compassionate person. I know he touched a lot of people over the years.

  6. My heart is broken to know that we have to be here without this precious soul and the kindest person that I have ever known. Bobby has always treated me with respect and kindness for as long as I have known him. Even though I am not technically related to him he always said that I would always be family and he would always refer to me as his cousin. He loved his family and he was so proud of his niece and nephews growing up. He was always so funny and fun to be around.
I will miss him and I will really miss his Christmas cards. He never missed sending the sweetest cards from him and Jesse.
Jesse, I will be keeping you in my thoughts and prayers. I will always be here for you. You will have a place at the table and you are welcome anytime.
    I love you, sweet cousin!
    Take care of yourself.

  7. I have far too many fond memories to count from my 20 years working with Robert at CARES as well as our connections since. None more important than those where he and I moved past our diametrically opposing views to find a shared experience or value, often our Christian beliefs. I grew immensely because of our relationship and time together. I saw great growth and change in him over the years and hope that one small part was because of our friendship.

Robert, your belief in Christ sustained you throughout your life, rest peacefully with Him in heaven!

  8. Robert and I spent nearly three years working together at Nashville CARES. He always had a true passion for serving his fellow man, both during his time at Nashville CARES and Soles4Souls. Robert was a true example of a servant leader until the end. Rest in Peace my dear friend. 🙏🏻🪽

  9. I will miss Robert so much. I had the privilege of working with him at Soles4Souls for almost 8 years, and he leaves a huge hole in our work community. I loved his laugh, his love of pigs, his honest guidance, his love of coffee, and his loving friendship. Sending huge hugs to you, Jesse. And the pups.

  10. Bobby I will greatly miss you.We had some fun times when we were younger…I especially remember when you and I took a vacation to Kansas City what a great time we had ..I know as we get older we drift apart some. But I still loved you cuz…Jesse you are family please stay in touch.

  11. Snort…..you were a treasured friend and shining light in this world. My great memories of college would not have been the same without you. You were loved and will be missed. ~ kai~

He was such a remarkable person and it was a privilege to have known and worked with him. May you rest in peace dear Robert!

  13. I have great memories of Robert and the many “between me, you, and the fencepost” conversations.that we had. It was an honor to report to him for two years at Soles4Souls. Robert will be missed! Praying for peace and comfort for the family at this time.

    Respectfully,

    Kim Shamley
